Internet Governance in Korea – Kye-Nam Lee, .kr

The presentation will focus on recent discussions in Korea on Internet Governance:

  • Acitivites of KIGA (Korea Internet Governance Alliance)!
  • Result of K-IGF (held in May 2013)
  • Discussions at 2013 WTPF (Korea's view on Internet Governance..etc)
  • Way Forward.

Accountability & Transparency Review Team 2 (ATRT 2) Update – Brian Cute, ATRT 2 Chair

With the goal of producing final recommendations by 31 December 2013, the ATRT 2 is currently in the process of gathering data and wishes to hear from the ccNSO to inform its work. Questions will be circulated in preparation for this session.

The Domain Name Industry Association - Durban Update ­ Adrian Kinderis, ARI

A short time ago a few Industry participants formed a small working group tasked with forming a much needed collective for the Domain Name Industry. The Domain Name Industry has long been splintered between different factions and groups despite the fact that we had common interests. It was decided that the Domain Name Association (DNA) would be a forum that members could share these common interests, goals and information. Whilst still developing the group believes it is important to be as inclusive as possible as it structures the membership base. This short briefing will give an update as to the status of the DNA including mission, structure, and activities to date.

.za host presentation – Vika Mpisane, .za

The presentation will cover ongoing changes with the .ZA 2nd level domain landscape as a measure of giving more 2nd level registration options. It will also cover .ZA's plan to integrate the dotCapeTown, dotDurban and dotJoburg gTLDs into the .ZA infrastructure.

Role of Branding in making ccTLDs successful in growth of domains ­ a .ke experience – Anthony Wambugu, .ke

In the last three months we embarked on a rebranding exercise for our ccTLD and its subdomains. The reception has been amazing with close to four thousand domains registered.

Marketing of Prefecture Type JP Domain Names – Yuri Takamatsu, .jp

JP launced "prefecture type JP domain name space" in November 2012. It was a kind of opening a new domain name space. To promote this space, we did publication, advertisement, marketing research, and so on. What were done and their result will be presented along with a lot of sample materials.

How ccTLDs can take advantage of the Trademark Clearinghouse, Thomas Barrett – EnCirca, TM.Biz and PW Registry Corp

Although the Trademark Clearinghouse(TMCH) was designed for the new gTLD's, there is a way for interested ccTLD's planning a trademark Sunrise Period to leverage the TMCH. The speaker will provide a summary of the recent .pw, Radio.am and Radio.fm Sunrise periods conducted by TM.Biz on behalf of the Registry and describe how the Sunrise agent was able to process validated trademarks from the TMCH.

Recent policy changes and Transition to EPP protocol in .UA – Dmitry Kohmanyuk, .ua

UA registry started staged migration to EPP in September 2012. By May 2013, is was completed for major subdomains. Many things have changed over last three months – in new registry code, gone are old RRP code, UANIC handles, new contact privacy options, gTLD-style auto renew grace periods, 8-but UTF encoding, full support for IPv6 host names, unified IDN policy, and three-way contract model we have due to "federated" ccTLD structure.
