ALAC Statement on the IDN Variant Issues Project Draft Integrated Issues Report

Edmon Chung; ALAC member from the Asian, Australasian, and Pacific Islands Regional At-Large Organization (APRALO) and ALAC IDN Policy Liaison; composed an initial draft of this Statement [PDF, 407 KB] after discussion of the topic during an At-Large IDN Working Group call held on 11 January 2012.

On 12 January 2012, the Statement was then posted on the At-Large IDN Variant Issues Project Draft Integrated Issues Report Workspace.

On that same day, Olivier Crépin-Leblond, Chair of the ALAC, requested that At-Large Staff send an eight-day call for comments on the draft Statement to all At-Large members via the ALAC-Announce Mailing List.

On 24 January 2012, a second version of the statement incorporating the comments received both by emails and also in the workspace was drafted. Theresulting statement is presented here.

On that same day, the Chair of the ALAC requested that Staff open a five-day ALAC ratification vote on the Statement.

On 29 January 2012, the online vote resulted in the ALAC endorsing the statement with ten votes in favor, zero against, and zero abstentions. You may review the result independently under:

On 30 January 2012, the Chair requested that the Statement be transmitted to the public comment process, copying the ICANN Staff member responsible for this public comment topic.
