Lesley is Chief Executive of Nominet, the .uk country code top level domain registry. She has extensive management experience in both the public and private sectors, having worked in a range of management roles for more than 25 years. She has an MBA (with distinction) and is a member of the Institute of Directors, a Fellow of the British Computer Society, the Chartered Management Institute, the Institute of Credit Management and the Royal Society of Arts.
With over nine million registrations, Nominet operates one of the largest country code registry registries in the world. It is a not-for-profit company that acts in the interests of all .uk stakeholders in an industry self-regulation framework, with 3,000 members, a staff of 130 and a turnover of £23m per annum.
Lesley joined Nominet in 1999, originally in the role of Operations Director and was made CEO in 2002. As Nominet Chief Executive and board member, she makes a major contribution to strategic planning and decision making. She is responsible for the leadership of the company and the oversight of the senior management team.
As part of Nominet's commitment to being a leading force in internet governance, Lesley has been a member of the ccNSO Council since early 2007 and was appointed chair in March 2011.
Nominet has won numerous business awards since her appointment. In terms of personal awards, she was a finalist in the Vitalise Businesswoman of the Year 2008 awards, she won the 2007 CBI First Woman in IT Award, in 2006 she was one of the top five finalists in Britain's Best Boss awards where she was awarded a special commendation for encouraging a can-do attitude and a supportive culture. She was awarded an OBE for services to the Internet and e-commerce in the Queen's 2011 New Year's Honours List.
Lesley is also a voluntary Trustee of the Jenner Hall charity.
