The Latin-American and Carribbean At-Large Organisation (LACRALO) will organize a showcase event during the ICANN Cartagena meeting on Monday, 06 December 2010 from 1800 until 1900. The event, which will be held in- and outside the Pegasus room will be an opportunity to present the activities of the LACRALO members, highlight the role of Latin American Internet user organisations in the Internet eco-system and reach out to local Internet users. The idea for this event was first brought up after the signing of the Affirmation of Commitments (AoC) whereby ICANN committed itself to the principle of global participation and gained further momentum following the successful showcase event held by the African At-Large region in March 2010 in Nairobi and the European region in June 2010 in Brussels. The Cartagena Showcase intents to increase ICANN's profile in Latin America and draw new participants into its policy processes. During its teleconference held on August 19th, LACRALO agreed to form a working group tasked with drafting a project outline, creating a draft program and finding sponsoring sources outside of ICANN.
