GNSO Council nominated Norm Ritchie to replace Emily Taylor as a candidate for the Second Security, Stability, and Resiliency of the Domain Name System Review Team (SSR2-RT). While not a primary candidate initially selected by the GNSO, Norm Ritchie was among four other GNSO candidates to be considered for inclusion in the SSR2-RT, should additional places be available. On 16 July 2917, Emily Taylor submitted her resignation to the SSR2-RT. Shortly after, the GNSO Standing Selection Committee (SSC) recommended Norm Ritchie as a replacement candidate, taking into account the criteria outlined in the call for volunteers, as well as the desire to ensure a RT that is balanced for diversity and expertise. The GNSO Council considered the recommendation and passed a motion on 24 August 2017 to provide support.
