Re: [ga] dot-IQ


This issue should be addressed immediately and it beholds the ICANN Board to
make a clear statement, clarifying (a) their independence from DoC and US
interference in the matter (b) what present steps they are taking to
dialogue with Iraqi interests in the matter (c) what needs to be done to
provide the people of Iraq with a national DNS presence and a voice within
structures controlled by themselves not the US.

I recognise that there are even more pressing needs in this beleaguered
country at the moment, but ICANN's governance relates to facilitating and
supporting the people of each country to determine for themselves the future
of their own ccTLD.

What is the position of the ICANN Board, and is it independent of the USA?
