Re: [ga] New York State Domain Law
Hi Elliott, You may have misunderstood Karl's comment. Eliot Spitzer is the current Governor of New York and former New York State Attorney General. IMO, the legislation was more likely due to a domain registrant registering domains containing some politicians name and then trying to sell said domains to that person. Unfortunately, the actions of the minority group who do not respect intellectual property rights, negatively impact the legitimate rights of the majority of domain registrants who do respect those rights. I am not a lawyer and these are only my personal opinions. If you require legal advice, you should seek qualified legal counsel. I understood this law to apply to people doing things like registering the name of brad and angelina's baby.
