The rumor mill has it that Dotster may be having liquidity problems.

According to WebHosting.info, Dotster ranks as the 14th largest registrar and has 1,085,172 domains under management.

ICANN already dropped the ball with the Registerfly meltdown. There's no excuse for letting another registrar disaster happen. Let's hope that the Dotster rumors are false, but if they are indeed true, steps can be taken now to protect domain registrants. AFAIK, ICANN still has not decided on a registrar data escrow.
