Mr. dierker and all,

First of all this is not a GA contribution but rather is a GNSO announcment.

Secondly the attributation is confusing as the URL provided is not consistant

with the actual subject matter which is Data Escrow for .museum. The correct

URL refrence of interest which this announcment is directed to is:

<A href="http://www.icann.org/tlds/agreements/museum/draft-proposed-museum-appendices-26aug07.pdf";>http://www.icann.org/tlds/agreements/museum/draft-proposed-museum-appendices-26aug07.pdf

The only concerns offhand which seem to glare out are, XML is the preferd format

for this data escrow solution being suggested, which is not yet a standard file

format and is being challanged strongly by OOXML by microsoft within the

ISO. The second concers I see is with the DISTRIBUTION OF PUBLIC KEYS

section, which seemingly ask for those keys by the registry to be transmitted

to in an unsecure manner which opens up any follow-on data or communications

of sensitive data to miscreants of various sorts and is a strong target for fraud

as a result. I doubt that this method/proceedure would pass muster in

any reasonable audit.

To wit: "

Distribution Of Public Keys. Each of Registry Operator and Escrow Agent will

distribute its public key to the other party (Registry Operator or Escrow Agent, as the

case may be) via email to an email address to be specified. Each party will confirm

receipt of the other party's public key with a reply email, and the distributing party will

subsequently reconfirm the authenticity of the key transmitted. In this way, public key

transmission is authenticated to a user able to send and receive mail via a mail server

operated by the distributing party. Escrow Agent, Sponsor and ICANN shall exchange

keys by the same procedure."
