Dear All,

We will leave the unofficial vote count at 10 yes and 1 no. We will wait until tomorrow am to make it "official". Anyone who wants to lodge an objection should do so now. I foresee one objection which shall be noted and we shall move on.

Open voting was not my first choice, nor was it anyone else's. For some it took great principle to vote and for others great restraint not to vote. We all owe a debt of gratitude to those who did either. (but no gratitude to those who are on vacation/holiday, unless the voted anyway) It was important to move on and get this initial phase done.

Now we will seek to get our rules implemented. Not a large technical or logistical feat but a rather grand political one. I want to make clear from the outset that we are a part of ICANN. With that clear, we must then work with ICANN people. Old dislikes must lay down in favor of new bridges and routes of trust. We must not consider it "selling out" to reach an accord. We must first gain a seat at the banquet before we start demanding more dessert. This is not to say that we may relax our vigilance. We are of no use to anything if we do not stand on the principle of protecting the users and registrants.

Thanks again to all who voted.

  Eric
