Dominik,

In the immediate future none of us will need to worry about the "domain tasting" phenomenon because it will soon be replaced by something much, much worse...

The .com contract contains the following clause: 

"Traffic Data . Nothing in this Agreement shall preclude Registry Operator from making commercial use of, or collecting, traffic data regarding domain names or nonexistent domain names"

Why bother "tasting" a domain for its traffic potential when you can simply buy a complete list from VeriSign that indicates how many hits each nonexistent domain received by way of "direct navigation"
attempts?  This will be a typosquatter's dream. 
...and of course, the registrars will be waiting in the wings to profit from the release of this data.
