As an EarthLink subscriber who has been redirected to these pages myself, I agree that this nonsense with DNS abuse has to stop. ICANN's "penalty" for VeriSign's Site Finder, of an extended contract with more generous terms, certainly didn't act a deterrent to others going down the same path.
