Stephane and Council Members:

I¹d like to provide a bit of background on the proposed SO/AC chairs
discussion with the ICANN CEO that Stéphane recently mentioned to you.
For several ICANN meetings now, Rod has been hoping to have more time to
have the Chairs come together with him to exchange views on their
activities and programs for the future. As this has been a scheduling
challenge during the midst of the public meetings, Rod asked staff to
investigate whether we might find some time just prior to the March
meeting. The goal is to have a discussion of what the SO/AC chairs hope
to see as the most significant challenges/opportunities for ICANN and how
we could work better together on sharing information about SO/AC
priorities.

Based on the input received, we are planning a two hour informal
roundtable on Friday afternoon, March 11, followed by a dinner. Noting the
concerns that have been raised, Rod encourages the Chairs to solicit input
from their communities on points that should be raised, and to share any
feedback on the discussion that they would like following the session.

Regards, David
