We will get a huge following once we hit “prime time” in the US given the large 
US representation of our Constituents.

I can’t wait until we start scheduling meetings to ensure we maximize the 
number of “observers” live on the call.

Thanks Marika.

We should check back on these numbers after a few meetings with the audiocast. 
These first numbers (5 users "including a number of staff") don't seem to 
justify spending even the lowly sum of 60 bucks. But we need to give this new 
system a chance as I'm sure not many people know it's available yet.

In follow up to the discussion on the audiocast, please find below the scrubbed 
data on the number of times recent Council meeting recordings have been 
accessed. Please note that some of the numbers may have increased if the clips 
were accessed in the intervening time (underneath you will find the original 
email with the ‘unscrubbed’ data).

In relation to the question of costs, we estimate that the cost of the current 
solution (automated audiocast stream via web-site) is $0,50 per minute which 
covers the expenses for the phone line, server and bandwidth. This would mean a 
cost of $60 for a Council meeting of 2 hours. For the record, during the last 
meeting the maximum number of participants at the same time in the audiocast 
was 5, which included a number of staff members who confirmed that the system 
worked as intended and the audio quality was good. In addition, several other 
members in the community provided similar comments. The audiocast information 
for the next meeting has already been included in the agenda details, which is 
expected to result in an increase in the number of participants. Our intention 
is to keep a record of the number of individuals that access the audiocast so 
that the Council can evaluate those data going forward.

from MDR, there is some delay in our response. Below you will find the rough 
statistics for recent calls. These are rough as they have not yet been fully 
scrubbed to eliminate crawlers like Yahoo, Google etc. -- which are not genuine 
users accessing the recordings. Please let us know if you have further 
questions or would like to receive further details.

Chuck, can you please ask staff to find out how many times the mp3 recording 
has been downloaded previously (month to month)?

Also, has anyone done a study of success for the implementation of the 
audiocast to determine its ROI? Will it be seen as “valuable” if 50 people 
listen in? 25? 5? 1? At what point do we consider the cost and effort outweighs 
the perceived value?

In my business, I try to only implement initiatives after determining demand 
and setting success criteria.

So a good start may be;

-         Why are we performing this initiative?

-         What are hoping to achieve?

-         How much will it cost?

-         How will we define success?

-         How will we measure success?


It is never too late to apply these type of questions....
