It also will include introductions to some of the key issues in name and number policy being discussed in the community, including Transparency and Accountability at ICANN, Internationalised Domain Names, Internet Protocol v4-v6 Transition and, last but not least, Increasing Security of the Domain Name System Using the DNSSec Protocol.

Sunday, 1st March

Policy Working Groups, Part 1
Melia Reforma Hotel Meeting Rooms, 09:00 – 16:30

The At-Large community was surveyed by the At-Large Summit Organising Working Group and was asked to choose in order of importance from amongst 15 of the most important subjects under consideration in the ICANN community today.

Their top five choices overall are the subjects for five working groups, that are tasked with drafting and coming to agreement on five statements on these important subjects during the course of the Summit. Summit participants have been assigned to the working groups that they indicated were of most interest to them, with adjustments made to ensure regional balance and address language needs.

Work in each group is underway telephonically and by email throughout February 2009.

You may access the information about each working group from the links below:

Thematic Sessions, Part 1
Melia Reforma Hotel Meeting Rooms, 16:30 – 18:00

A key element of the At-Large Summit are ten 90-minute Thematic Sessions, half on Sunday and the other five on Tuesday, 3 March in Mexico City, taking place simultaneously in five separate meeting rooms.

Thematic Sessions are intended to educate and provoke dialogue on a specific issue and focus on the At-Large community. The subjects were proposed by members of At-Large and organised by them with Staff support.

ALS Faire and Poster Exhibition Opening
Revolución 1, 18:30 – 20:30

One of the highlights of the Summit is the opportunity for each At-Large Structure (ALS) to exhibit their activities through the submission of posters, written material, audio and audiovisual works, and online materials to the Faire and Poster Exhibition that will be on permanent display throughout the ICANN meeting for all meeting attendees to see . The opening event will give each ALS an opportunity to speak with others about the examples of their activities on display, and to look at what other ALSes have provided and speak one-on-one about their work in an informal, interactive atmosphere.

The opening will feature hosted beer, wine, and soft drinks as well as hors d’oeuvres.

The attendees from the ICANN Fellowship Programme will be joining the Summit delegates at this event, giving ALSes a chance to meet and speak to this group of attendees, who are all new to the ICANN community.

Monday, 2nd March

No Summit-specific activities are scheduled for Monday – participants will be engaged in the main ICANN Meeting events.

Tuesday, 3rd March

General Assemblies of all Regional At-Large Organisations (“RALOs”)
Melia Reforma Hotel Meeting Rooms, 09:00 – 13:00

A main event in the calendar of all At-Large Structures is the General Assembly of their RALO, where they discuss ICANN issues from the perspective of their regions, elect officers for the upcoming year, and elect members of the At-Large Advisory Committee.

Sheraton Hotel, Don Alberto 2-4, 13:00 – 14:00

The GNSO ‘User House’ – all of the non-ICANN contracted parties (everyone except registrars and registries) – is meeting to discuss issues of concern to all of them, including the new structure of the GNSO, and the inclusion of the interests of individual Internet users in the GNSO’s work more directly than has been the case previously.

In order to allow delegates to eat and attend the meeting, lunch will be provided, along with special shuttle services starting at 12:30 to take delegates from the Melia to the Sheraton to maximise the time available to participate in this meeting. Shuttles will also bring everyone back to the Melia for the continuation of the Working Group meetings that follow. Delegates who choose not to attend this meeting will be able to take lunch at the Melia during the same period.
