Ross,
I have some questions about this, and I hope we are planning to have a
lively debate on this document before we vote on it.
<snip>
I know time may be short, but I think we need to have a frank an open
discussion on some of these points, as I know I have some concerns about
this being our official position. Perhaps at the upcoming ICANN meetings
would be a good time.
Yes - our voting processes guarantee lively debate as required :) We
don't have the luxury of deferring this for discussion for another two
months so that we can discuss this face to face, but our voting process
provide all members with an opportunity to seek clarification on every
motion, propose amendments to those motions, discuss the motion and any
amendments and eventually vote on the motion based on our respective
interest, business model and other motivation.
In this case, timing constraints require us to continue with the voting
process. I am still seeking seconds for this motion but will certainly
consider all amendments with a reasonable level of support as friendly.
Even I deem an amendment as unfriendly, they will still be voted on by
the constituency and can end up as part of our official position.
Providing clarification to your other questions will require some
additional thought - I'll do my best to get to them later today so that
the thinking that went into this document is as clear as it can be.
Regards,
-rwr
