CLARIFICATION OF THE VOTE - As there has been some confusion about this vote, I wanted to send the following clarification.
Registrars may send 2 representatives to the GNSO Council, one for a term of 2 years, and another for a term of 1 year. Therefore, this ballot is intended to elect those two representatives. The highest vote getter will be elected to the 2-year term, with the next highest to the 1-year term.
ICANN may also change the rules to allow a third representative on the Council. In case that happens, the Constituency is also electing an alternate who may fill this position. Therefore, the candidate with the 3rd most votes will be placed as the alternate representative should the GNSO Counsel decide to allow us 3 members.
The current ballot allows you to vote for two representatives. Please continue to do so. Since the 3rd position is not currently in place, we will simply count the candidate with the 3rd highest tally as the alternate. As you can tell from viewing the ballot results for now, the boardrooms site records the number and percentage of votes for each candidate, so it is easy to see which candidate is in which place. If there is a tie, there will be a run off, per constituency rules of procedure.
Finally, please keep in mind the geographic diversity requirement for the Council. We cannot send two representatives from the same region.
Regards,
Elana Broitman
