I don't see as a big a problem with this as is suggested. The ICANN
Accredited Registrar of record is still ultimately responsible for this
process, and its consequences. The Reseller Registrar is the entity the
registrant is familiar with and will cause less confusion if the message
is coming from them than someone the registrant does not normally deal
with.

This is all a result of opening this up to competition. None of us would
even be here if that hadn't happened. We should not now be looking for
ways to control that just because we don't happen to agree with a
particular business model.

Tim

Dear Tom: You are addressing the most important element of the transfer

problem.

Some registrars give their resellers a very long leash -- if any at all.
I
frankly don't trust some of the reseller networks.

And how about the reseller's resellers networks; and the reseller's
resellers' resellers?

We're a long long way from the original Code of Conduct provisions:-(
Few
of these registrants have any idea who is the real registrar. I think
ICANN should look at the problems created by these broken lines of
authority. Certainly I would like to put the resellers' RRA Agreements
through the scrutiny that *we* Accredited Registrars must contend with.

Regards, BobC
