Actually, my example is flawed.
For some reason, I was thinking that Ross and Tom were from the same region,
which of course they are not.
My point is, if we have 2 people running from the same region, how do you
handle the ballot ? I guess you could throw all the names on one, and the 2
people with the most votes are in, but you would probably want to restrict
people from voting for 2 people from the same region.
Rob.

Are there any geographic requirements for these seats ?
If so, I suspect we may need individual ballots per region, as we would only
be able to vote for one rep per region. (ie: I suspect that Bruce and
Ross/Tom are not actually running against each other, but that Ross/Tom
are.) The issue further complicates when you have more than 2 regions
involved.

Dear Registrars - I would like to remind everyone of the process to elect
representatives to the Council. The idea is to finish the election prior to
the Carthage meeting on Oct. 24. We will have 2 slots open. So far there
have been 2 nominations - Ross Rader and Bruce Tonkin. I would like to add
a 3rd nomination - Tom Keller, who has also done an excellent job in his
role as current reprentative.
The process is as follows:
Each of these three must accept and get an additional endorsement. Bruce
has received a second and has accepted. The same needs to happen for Ross
and Tom (unless I'm forgetting and this has occurred?)
Bob, as the Constituency Secretary, must publish the motion and call for
discussion immediately and in no case later than within 48 hours of
receiving the nomination from the Proponent. I had nominated Bruce on
Monday, September 22nd., and would count the period for nominations as open
from that date.
The nomination period will normally be held open for no less than 14 days -
through October 6th.
The ballot will be published at the end of the 14-day period and will only
include the names of such candidates as have filed a conflict of interest by
the end of the 14 days.
The ballot will remain open for 7 days - through October 13th.
So, the bottom line is:
a) Ross and Tom - please accept, if you are willing, and find a 2nd
endorsement;
b) all 3 should publish a conflict statement; and
c) Rick will publish a ballot on October 7th.
Regards,
Elana Broitman
