Re: [ga] ICANN Los Angeles Meeting

1 - I will most likely attend.

2 - The need to get a room would depend on the number of people attending. If the few people who participate on this mailing list are any indication of attendance, a room probably won't be necessary.

3 - In addition, the rights of domain registrants and the necessary ICANN policy changes required to protect those rights is an essential topic of discussion.

4 - A list of nearby hotels with approximate rates is at http://losangeles2007.icann.org/hotels
For those who can avoid flying into LAX, I would personally suggest using the Long Beach airport (LGB), which is about 15 miles away.

Karl forgot to mention that you may need an umbrella and raincoat for October. When it rains in LA in October, it pours...for days. Some of you may recall seeing the California mudslides on the news.

It's probably time to start planning for the upcoming
ICANN Los Angeles meeting. Several questions come to
mind:

1. Who among us is planning to attend?

I'll probably go.

2. Can the GA obtain a room to hold a meeting?

For $$.

3. GA agenda topics?

ICANN's exclusion of the public, the failure of the ALAC.

4. Is there affordable lodging in the area?

Depends on your definition of affordable. There are less expensive places in the area - but they are all airport hotels. Don't plan on easy walks from other hotels, and public transport in LA is ... well it is LA, land of the private automobile (and don't expect free parking.)

October in LA in can be hot - it is the season of the Santa Ana winds (compressionally heated, very dry, off-shore winds flowing from the desert).
