Hello,
ICANN has just updated its litigation pages to show the documents for
an interesting case:
http://www.icann.org/general/litigation-c-itoh.htm
The plaintiff, C. Itoh Middle East (Bahrain) -- although the real party
in interest is the National Union Fire Insurance Company of Pittsburg,
PA, has apparently been trying to recover $23 million from the Republic
of Congo for the past 15 years. So, now they want the .cg top level
domain to be transferred to them, as it has value. The case was filed
in June, but I believe it was just posted today (November 20), hmmm.
It's still being litigated (looks like it's in preliminary motions,
still).
BTW, has anyone noticed the ICANN website is verrrryyyy slowwww today?
It was offline yesterday for several hours, so perhaps that is related
to today's slow speed. Downloading the recent GNSO Council meeting MP3
took several HOURS, even though I have a 6 Mbps cablemodem.
Sincerely,
George Kirikos
