The only problem with extending the contractual partnership is lack of stakeholder dotcommoner and holder representation. Of course it would be great to give it up to some international group but none contains the critical infrastructure necessary to do the job. I have not seen a legitmate offer to take over the job and provide for an individual representative form of governance.
ICANN continues by default.
