Veni,

Thank you for your note, but I, for one, would prefer
to discuss the issues fully prior to submitting a set
of comments to the Board.

We have registries that have not abided by the
"Procedure for Subsequent Agreement" clause of their
contracts. As such we cannot review their reports on
the TLD's operational history, nor can we assess their
planned enhancements or properly consider their past
performance (all of which is critical in arriving at a
decision whether to recommend to the Board that it
pursue a course of action leading to either renewal or
rebid).

By way of example, PIR had earlier proposed ORGCloak.
I have heard nothing about this possible enhancement
since the day it was first mentioned, nor have I heard
anything about the DNSSEC testbed results (the testbed
was launched last October). For all I know there
might be other registries (perhaps even non-American)
that can do a better job at handling .org. I believe
the public has a right to evaluate a Registry Renewal
Proposal and to take that into consideration while
concurrently examining proposed contract language.

We need more facts to lay the groundwork for upcoming
comments.

Perhaps John Jeffries can advise as to when we can
expect to see the registry Renewal Proposals...
perhaps Veni can act in the public interest by having
a word with John on this matter...
