Dear Olof,
In an earlier note to the GA, Vint Cerf reminded us of
the need to consider TLD processing factors -- his
exact words were:
"(how much "work" does a TLD require - normal support,
changes to root zone, processing of IPv4 and IPv6
address bindings, contract negotiations and changes,
compliance checking, etc). The cumulative load summed
over all TLDs, etc)."
It would help our discussions on allocation issues
(quantity/frequency) to know the Staff view on how
many TLD applications could be processed per annum
without unduly straining staff resources.
Might we impose upon you to take a quick survey of
Staff opinion on this topic and provide us with a
"sense-of-the-Staff" assessment?
cordially,
Danny
