ICANN At-Large - Denise Michel <michel@xxxxxxxxx> wrote:
Danny,
On behalf of ICANN's At-Large Advisory Committee (ALAC), I extend their
thanks to you for volunteering to serve on the ALAC. ICANN?s Board of
Directors appointed Annette Muehlberg from Germany and John Levine from
the U.S.A to the ALAC.
The ALAC recommended that the Board appoint Muehlberg and Levine after
undertaking a lengthy process of outreach and consideration. The ALAC
solicited volunteers and public input, reviewed volunteers? backgrounds
and statements of interest, conducted due diligence, selected finalists
for additional questioning and, after extensive deliberations, selected
the recommended candidates.
The selection process was challenging due to the high caliber of
candidates who were willing to serve on the ALAC. Although you were not
selected by the Board for an ALAC slot, we hope that you will consider
being involved in At-Large in other ways. Opportunities for involvement
include:
- Forming an Internet user group and seeking "At-Large Structure"
designation, or encouraging a group you are affiliated with to be
designated an "ALS," and becoming more active in ICANN At-Large;
- Serving as a liaision on a policy task force, or reporting to the ALAC
and the community on an issue or activity of interest to At-Large;
current issues the ALAC is involved with/tracking are listed below;
- Providing input on current issues and/or raising additional issues in
which the ALAC should be involved;
- Serving as an At-Large delegate to ICANN's Nominating Committee
(selected each January);
- Volunteering for other leadership positions (the Nominating Committee
seeks candidates for appointment to numerous ICANN leadership positions
including the ALAC and the Board).
Thank you, again, for volunteering to serve on the ALAC. We hope you
will continue to be interested and active in At-Large.
Regards,
Denise Michel
