I do not share Muellers views necessarily as he comes from a little more academia and I more commercial but the principals described appear healthy.
 
TOPs used to be a US DoC program for granting money for funding localized technology enhancement for the masses. It went away. But the same help can be found via the Faith Based initiatives out of the Whitehouse. Interesting.
 
Over the past year almost 1,000 Internet Cafe's have been closed by governments in Asian communist style countries. Just when we thought Religion was the opiate of the people it seems to be free access to free information - or maybe for a dollar.
 
It has been quite some time since we heard from Roessler and after the one Euro ICANN list closed what happened to the new one. Blogs that sell something on the side seem to be the only way for a viable discussion group to be maintained on the net. But the Blogs seem to be ICANNish in that they are dominated by cadre's - of course.
 
Does life immitate the net or does the net immitate life. North American Hockey struck itself out, Nascar moved up a notch in most watched sports. I'll bet my dollar to your single Peso that net useage in one week reflected the same from hits to ecommerce. I even looked up Daytona, way cool, got as much time looking at it as I used to look at NHL, oops i am a bad example.
 
Social Security, George W got an HSA (that is health savings account) now they are growing in popularity. You can now sit down with your computer and get full health insurance coverage, open a bank account, pay all your IRS, make a 2-3 k a month income easily all without leaving your bedroom. Now why in the hell do we have an immigration issue?
