The mistake he did (he his the first one to acknowldge it) is that he made the filtered list the default. So it was perceived by some as a censoring instead of a value added service. If I am correct Karl was among those who protested and left the list. Since then, things have clarified. This solution is probably the best one, but it requires the dedication of the watchdogs. One result was that JW or others started to copy scores of supposed subscribers to the filtered list when they were banned from it. So when you are subcribed to the full GA you received several copies of the same post.
