Eric and all,

Misinformation CAN be useful yes if it is obvious that it is
such. If it is not than the reader or listener

can be taken in by such as if it were gospel. That is detrimental, and
as with Wikipedia on occasion

with it's many [ far too many ] hoaxes it has been significantly harmful to
the frequent users of Wikipedia.

Truth as in accurate information, is indeed in this specific context
I am providing, evolves to be sure.

In your stated context, no that is not truth, just potentially, if not
likely harmful misinformation, or a untruth.

So indeed wikipedia is 'evolving' as it were however slowly. As such
double or triple checking it's

many refrences to information is a very advisable if not necessary endevor
for the time being.

Dearest Jeff,

You mental pigmy ;-) Misinformation is very useful, both intentional
and unintentional. In many cases it is a reflection of the ignorance of the
masses, in other cases we can gauge reaction and thereby learn a great deal.
Also it is good to evaluate misinformation and determine the why and the effect
and affect. Also it often tells us much about the author and/or publisher.

Hence my referrel to Galleleo and Columbus -- labeled wrong, stupid and
full of misinformation regarding the heavenly bodies and the flatness of our
earth,, to be sure heretics -- So truth is an evolving thing, misinformation
often brings us closer to a more advanced understanding.

The point is to get you to differentiate between - Information,
Entertainment, and Knowledge. And information good or bad is still information
and Entertainment can be informational. Hoaxes, myths and rumors are
information and quite often entertaining. Knowledge can come from anywhere,
that is up to the recipient of the information or entertainment. One of the
best examples are agendized schools -- the "education" is more marketing than
knowledge but clearly informational and often entertainment. The information
can impart knowledge or not -- up to the student.

Eric and all,

I love Jimmy Wales, but he is NO Columbus or Galleleo to be
sure. I admire Jimmy's

tenacity and vision with Wikipedia, but given some of hoaxes that have been
expounded

there and remain perpetrated there, it leaves me wanting for better, which
Jimmy will eventually

achieve some day, just not today or likely in the near term. We
should all prefer, if not demand

'Original Documentation' instead of the revisionist sort, should we
not? Gotta love editors

though eh? >;) So be sure to cross check those wikipedia
references every time!

Gods speed and grace Jimmy!
