lauren and all,

Other Root servers have existed for several years now. I
am not at all surprised that Pirate Bay is setting up it's own.
ICANN frankly hasn't been very good at securing the 13 it has
been in charge of for some time, and infact sense ICANN inception
as massive amounts of documentation have shown clearly. Now however
ICANN is moving in a positive direction with DNSSEC with the help
of the IETF and other private sector actors/participants.

What worries me is that Pirate Bay hasn't been a good actor in
too many instances and as such presents a potential hazzard to
users/consumers accordingly. It would not at all surprise me to
see ICE determine in the not to distant future to have Pirate Bay's
operations shut down to the extent possible.
