[ga] Resignation

Hi All

 

It is with deep regret that I feel I must tender my resignation as List
Monitor of the GA Forum.  

 

I had hoped that by drafting rules we would initiate some better discourse
within this forum.  This has not proven to be the case.  Indeed, I have, as
I am sure you have all witnessed, found it quite difficult to deal with the
constant barrage of abuse and off-topic posts that have been, and still are,
an everyday occurrence from certain quarters.  I thought I could contain it
with List Rules but I find that when my, so called, colleagues (Chair and
co-List Monitor) are also party to this abuse my position becomes untenable.


 

I apologise for failing those of you who truly do require a general list in
order to keep a track of the ever-changing face of ICANN and its policies.
There are exciting times ahead with the introduction of IDN?s and I wish the
GA could be a party to these discussions but sadly I don?t think this will
happen.

 

I think that the time has come to close down the GA and to create some sort
of cross-constituency list, as proposed by George and others recently.
Unfortunately, as I am not a party to any of the groups as proposed I would
be unable to subscribe.

 

I wish you all well in your endeavours and would ask that you inform me
(privately) of any forums or groups to which I may subscribe that will allow
me to keep a track of on-going developments in this field.

 

I would like to thank those of you who have supported me in my duties and in
particular I would like to warmly thank the Secretariat.  

 

If I could ask one more task of the Secretariat, please unsubscribe me from
this list.
