Hi again,
Just a quick followup, someone on the Registrar's Constituency mailing
list confirmed the inflated pricing:
http://gnso.icann.org/mailing-lists/archives/registrars/msg05399.html
"FYI, the cost of ICANNâs travel agent's flights in economy were only
maginally cheaper than what my agent could get them for in business.
Maybe this is accounts for ICANN's high travel budget. "
Given the number of ICANN staffers, Board members, ICANN "fellows",
etc. given airfare (and hotel), if they were all done at greatly
inflated prices relative to the competitive marketplace, heads should
roll at ICANN. There are a million better places those funds could have
gone, instead of lining ICANN's travel agency's pockets. An
investigation is warranted by the auditors or budget committee to
measure the waste, and why it happened.
Where is the accountability?
Sincerely,
George Kirikos
