Hi Andy,
It is a bad configuration of the cname records in their DNS. This happens
when non-existing subdomains are not wildcarded to resolve to the www
subdomain. GoDaddy is not the only registrar with this problem. I've also
seen it with Network Solutions. I don't know whether or not these
misconfigurations are purely error or intentional, but given the advertising
revenue stream from parking pages, I'm more inclined to believe the latter.
One solution for the registrant is to use name servers or web hosting that
are not associated with the registrar.

I hand-typed djacobson.com into a browser, and I got a godaddy parking
page. How the hell do registrars get away with this sort of thing?
