RE: [council] FW: House Freedom Caucus First 100 Days Agenda Omits Mention of IANA Transition

Wasn’t saying it’s the last word on this, especially given Trump’s stated
opposition. Just that a group of House Conservatives who might have been
expected to have it on their wish list did not.

Thanks Phil. Interesting although I wouldn't call it dispositive. There was
no rule, regulation, or executive order that allowed the IANA Contract to
expire and for ICANN to take up a self-presumptive role in the vacuum, so I'm
not sure why it would have appeared on this list in any event. Interesting
days ahead, one way or the other, as whomever ends up dealing with ICANN from
the Trump administration will very likely have a different approach than we
have seen over these last 8 years (at least if his current cabinet appointments
are any accurate indication of change coming).

Best,
Paul

FYI, the House Freedom Caucus, composed of the right wing of House Republicans,
has issued an agenda of rules, regulations and executive orders it wants
reviewed, revoked or issued during the first 100 days of the Trump
Administration.

Tellingly, it has no mention of the Commerce Department or any of its rules or
actions, including the IANA Transition, indicating that any attempt by Congress
to revisit or reverse that decision is not likely to occur, at least based upon
present information.

The agenda is available at https://meadows.house.gov/first-100-days
