I would also like to have full and transparent records of the new gTLD Program
Committee's discussion of this issue so that they can inform our discussions.
This would include all briefing papers presented to them at the retreat last
week.

Marika,
Is there any chance that you / staff could provide some background on this
before and/or at the Feb 14 meeting.
Item 7: INFORMATION & DISCUSION - The issue of "closed generic" TLDs (10
minutes)
The New gTLD Program Committee recently directed the ICANN CEO to request the
GNSO to provide guidance on the issue of "closed generic" TLDs, , concurrent
with the opening of the public comment forum and if the GNSO wishes, to provide
such guidance. Guidance on this issue is requested to be provided by the close
of the public comment forum. (7 March)
7.1 Update
7.2 Discussion
7.3 Next steps (if any)
What is the issue, which applications are affected, why is this on the agenda
etc?
Many thanks,
Jonathan
