Re: [council] Terms of ICANN Board Directors
Thanks, Bruce. I appreciate your post.
I was reading same sections.
Good to have the facts abt the Board of ICANN.
I wld suggest that the consistency of # of yrs one can serve re board cld be a
guidepost when discussing the topic within constituencies and in the overall
GNSO review. It wld be ironic that a bd holds someone to a standard they cannot
support for themselves. We are after all needing to inform ourselves before
making decisions affecting broad governance issues re constituencies.
Best regards

The Board term limits are set out in (
http://www.icann.org/general/bylaws.htm#VI) :
Article VI, Section 8 (5):
"5. Subject to the provisions of the Transition Article of these Bylaws,
no Director may serve more than three consecutive terms. For these
purposes, a person selected to fill a vacancy in a term shall not be
deemed to have served that term."
A Director is normally appointed for a 3 year term, so this would mean a
total of 9 years is possible.
