Joe,

The queries you refer are indeed errors: they are requests who were
addressed to the wrong root.
People who want to address resources who are outside the official root
system should go to the particular root that recognizes those resources: if
they don't, it's what is commonly called a mistake, aka "error".

No - I don't buy that. Thats nonsense. What it is a clear indication that icann is suffering from inclusive name space fever. There is only one internet and ICANN can no longer find it.

Official Root. Sounds like the good ol arguments icann used about being a root monopoly. The official root is experiencing error because the IETF RFC on the subject is being violated. which see: RFC 2826

ftp://ftp.rfc-editor.org/in-notes/rfc2826.txt

Essentially the RFC was a significant warning to everyone that for the inernet to work - you need a unique root. Essentially when an RFC 2826 violation occures that error is propagated in all roots - but icann root now I would estimate have 99 % more traffic on them then ever before. Just with the leakage alone from the china internet which is served by vixie on behalf of the usg root server system. He system over there should have minimum queries - the errors are not coming from china name space - they are coming from icann using isps and ultimately users who communicate with chna and end up attempting to resolve china national tlds in icann space.

Listen - since you have a icann.org address - can you get us these stats? I consider the logs of every root server operator out there to be evidence in a future lawsuite against icann and the usg. The evidence is in the logs that icann is a failed experiment that has violated every aspect of technical protocol and has caused harm to itself and others in the process. Thats represented in the error rate.

SO don't delete those logs. Let them know this.
