Richard,

  Apologies for my misconception.

In American Jurisprudence we have to levels of ethics; first for the lawyers, which boils down to, don't get caught violating one of the rules the establishment has dictated in order to protect their own self interests. But the second is for the Bench or Judges. Avoid the appearance of impropriety.

Note the "PR" firms have both violated their own rules of ethics by lying blatantly and the have violated the Cardinal rule; don't get caught cheating.

In this case while I cannot apologize for them i can certainly state that I as a Norte Americano am embarrassed by them. Also on a personal note, I am bummed out about Chuck supporting this type of behavior, he seems like a nice enough guy.

          Well spoken Dr Dierker!

It is exactly the logic and good argument that should be the basis for right-thinking people to draw conclusions from.

Just one thing: I am not anti-American.

Some of the best friends in my life are American. I have found many Americans to be warm and hospitable and generous. To be critical of American corporate culture (or at least to be sceptical) is not to be anti-American but pro-American.

Because I believe in the best of the US, and not in the Enrons and Worldcoms.

  With respect and best wishes,

  Richard H

This is truly interesting. At the very least any professional public relations group would hire outside individuals to claim authorship of the list posts. It is axiomatic to public relations not to be seen. I am embarrassed for this knuckleheads and I hope Verisign sues them for this ridiculous amateurism.
(but I do not see how this fits into Richards' anti-Americanism. Richard you are losing credibility by trying to squeeze every issue into your anti USA template)
I think the most important factor here is the reminder that we should not judge a position merely by the amount entries but rather by the viability and logic of the argument.

Yes, that spate of "We adore the settlement" messages was as hilarious as it
was inept! What's insulting is trying to understand how *anyone* can think
that the rest of the world is applauding the grant of a monopoly to a US
corporation (with a dismal reputation for customer service) and these daft
messages were so US-centric and transparently "rigged" that it makes the
rest of us in the world think: "Oh thank you, corporate America, for
agreeing to charge us more and more for our domains each year" and "Thank
you honest good guys for sending all these messages, yes, we love Verisign
too, in fact we're in love with Verisign, in fact we want to marry Verisign,
in fact we want to FUCK Verisign..."

Yrs, from outside the US (that foreign place called Planet Earth),

Richard Henderson
