Dear Icann,
Please open a means for the public to comment on Verisign.
There is an extreme measure of animosity for Verisign/Netsolutions
throughout the internet community and it is the responsibility of Icann
to provide a place for the public to be heard in this matter. There
needs to be a public record of complaints. Godaddy's petition easily
acquired thousands of complaints but godaddy was obviously not the most
appropriate outlet for such complaints, since they violated the trust
of the thousands who signed by later removing the petition from the
internet.
Even though users like myself have long since moved away from Verisign
to other registrars, through the authority you grant versign, the
company regularly holds hostage domain names that have expired,
charging an $80 fee to release the domain. Then after a redemption
period it still fails to release the domain back to the public, holding
domains names in pending delete status for months.
Understand that we using the internet hold ICANN fully responsible for
allowing Versign to bully the public. You have created a monster that
has even turned on you. At least provide the public a means of helping
you gain control of this problem.
