Not sure why that would be so hard actually.  The total number of
Registrars is known, and their market shares are a matter of public
record.

I know of no large group of registrars that are not represented by the
RC, and I am sure that those of us who own other an interest in other
Registrars would be happy to give the RC the number we do for
statistical purposes confidentially. 

That should allow you to get to the total number the RC represents,
which would get you there.

Registrar Constituency Members:
 
I just wanted to let you know some facts about our membership.  We
currently have 71 paid members of the Registrar Constituency.  This is
about a 10% increase in membership over last year's number --
notwithstanding the change in the dues structure.  We have updated the
list on our Wiki website as follows:

We did a quick check of the members and their related families of
registrars and roughly estimate that the RC currently represents about
84% of the gTLD domain name registrar market.
