FYI -- ICANN has recently posted for public comment the draft registry
agreement for the .TEL sTLD registry.
http://www.icann.org/announcements/announcement-07apr06.htm
At first glance, I noticed that the term of the agreement is 10 years
and that there is a strong presumptive renewal provision in favor of the
registry operator (similar to the provision in the proposed .com
agreement).
There is no stated deadline for comments, but I urge everyone to take a
look at the draft agreement and comment on any issues of concern before
April 28. Even if you are unsure if you will register .TEL names, it
makes sense to provide comments as these agreements have been used by
ICANN as precedent for future agreements.
Thanks.
