Tim- I agree.  While Bruce had explained that these were non-speaking /
non-voting roles, if they lend an additional voice on the lists, or support
our delegate by being available when the delegate is not and understanding
the context, that is also important.

So, I would support your recommendation and moreover recommend that the
Ex-Com simply request the runners up in the original vote if they are
willing to serve as alternates.

Bruce,

I sent you a note last week about some issues with representation on these
task forces. This really needs to get resolved clearly if the resultant work
of these task forces is to be kept from becoming suspect. Again, on Task
Force 2 there were two reps from IPIC on the call. And there were two
liaisons from the ALAC as well.

Elana,

I also think we need to designate alternates for each of these task forces.
The alternates need to be committed to observing ALL activity of the task
force, assisting the primary representative, and be ready to fill in when/if
necessary. The consensus policy that will likely come from the work of these
task forces will have a serious impact on registrars.
