.INFO Registrars,
Afilias has received feedback from our registrar customers in regard
to the refund of fees resulting from deletion of .INFO domain names
during the auto-renewal grace period. Based on your feedback, Afilias
has incorporated your suggestions, and is modifying our software and
policies regarding deletion during auto-renewals to better serve your needs.
Effective January 27, 2004, registrars who delete names during the
auto-renewal grace period will no longer be required to wait until the
conclusion of the Redemption Grace Period (RGP) and the Redemption Hold
Period (RHP) to receive refunds. With this change, when a registrar
submits a successful request for the deletion of a .INFO domain name
during the autorenew grace period, they will immediately be refunded in
the amount of one domain year. This change will be reflected in the
Afilias OT&E environment as of December 30, 2003.
Afilias will provide an update regarding possible registry downtime
to accomodate this change into the production systems prior to December
27, 2003. In that update, Afilias will make available to you more
information regarding the details of this change, and any impact on
registry software.
Registrars should make sure to check their registrar account balances
to ensure that they have proper funds in order to process .INFO
auto-renewals, RGP fees, and new registrations.
