Please note that the GNSO is looking for 6 people to advise the President on WIPO II recommendations. Please also see the recent PGP report on this issue http://www.icann.org/gnso/issue-reports/udrp-review-report-01aug03.htm. Anyone interested should volunteer.

Thank you

The GNSO council has been asked to nominate 6 persons to the President's working group to study (NOTE; STUDY ... NOT IMPLIMENT !!) the WIPO II Recommendations and its effect on ICANN from both a legal and policy perspective. The GNSO has recommended that one person from every constituency is appointed and that person be knowledgeable in legal issues and a history of the UDRP.

The GNSO as a whole is against the recommendations as it creates substantive law that does not exist today and exceeds ICANN's scope. The GAC, however, very much wants this implemented (even without GNSO support).

Thw registrars need to appoint someone to represent the constituancy on this working group.. Prior to doing so, i would suggest that the excom read the board resolution establishing this President's working group..
