hi Jaime,

there's plenty of room for debate on that 2-year idea.  Rob Hall pointed out that the batching formula is 500 in the first batch, but 400 in subsequent batches.  so that makes 5 batches, especially if the total floats up closer to 2400.  but Antony Van Couvering has a pretty good assessment in the last paragraph of this recent CircleID piece where he points to several factors that could make the process go more quickly.

i think much of this boils down to how effective ICANN can be at managing the process.  if they give much of the work to a capable external firm that took factors like the ones Antony is describing into account, i think the process could move along pretty well.
