Assunto: [ispcp] Brief notes and actions from ISPCP conference call 30 Aug
2011
The following is a summary of the issues discussed on today?s call.
· NomCom appointments to GNSO
Thomas Rickert was congratulated on being appointed to as a Nominating
Committee representative to the GNSO Council
· Jennifer Taylor , who is replacing Jillian Mersch as a BT
representative was introduced. Jennifer will not be able to attend the
Senegal meeting but hopes to attend future ICANN meetings.
· Update from CSG Executive
- The CSG sub group formed to consider the ICANN operational plan and
budget has yet to commence work, mainly due to the holiday period across the
Northern hemisphere.
- The CSG have yet to discuss which of the two newly appointed GNSO
Councillors elected via the NomCom process should be seated within each of
the two houses. No agreed process to resolve this currently exists but
discussions have commenced between the two houses to resolve this.
· The election process to appoint an ISPCP representative to the
Nominating Committee for 2011-2012 has commenced;
- Nominations period: Tuesday 30 August to Friday 2nd September
ending 17.00 hours UTC
- Announcement of nominated candidates: Saturday 3rd September.
- Voting period; Monday 5th September to Thursday 8th September,
ending at 17.00 UTC.
- Voting results announced Friday 9th September.
· The election timetable for GNSO Councillors which needs to be
concluded prior to the Senegal meeting was agreed as follows;
- Nominations: 19-22 September
- Voting: 23-29 September
· Council issues. Wolf-Ulrich provided an update, Jaime Wagner was
unable to join the call. The GNSO meeting planned for July had been
cancelled and the next meeting is now scheduled for September 22nd. Concern
was expressed by ISPCP members over any potential delay to the start of the
gTLD applicant support process that remains dependent upon the agreed output
from the JAS wg. Any delay is likely to impact the viability and perception
of the gTLD process and should be avoided. ISPCP Councillors were requested
to raise this matter when the report from the JAS wg is again considered by
Council
· Election of GNSO Chair. The GNSO chair election is due to take
place in Senegal. Along with other CSG Constituencies no decisions have been
made within the CSG. A separate call to discuss this will be arranged if
required in advance of the Senegal meeting
· ATRT: members were reminded of the ICANN webinar scheduled for
31st August, 14.00 ? 15.30 UTC where an update on key issues will be
provided.
· Preparations for the ISPCP meeting in Dakar, Senegal
Rob Hoggart , ICANN staff member has accepted an invitation to attend the
ISPCP meeting to discuss the GNSO toolkit. Detailed arrangements for the CSG
breakfast, the CSG meeting and the Constituency meetings in Senegal have yet
to be proposed.
· The next ISPCP call was scheduled for Wednesday October 5th at
13.00 UTC
