[ga] Whois effect? VA Legislators to Introduce Data Breach Bill

All whon are concerned,

 It seems that Whois data and what from the Whois data base
can be legally displayed may be effected here.  I for one applaud
the great state of Virginia for taking a strong position here and
again reaffirming the right of individuals to manage and control
their own personal information no matter where it may reside
or be stored.

  I also see that such legislation at the state level in the US may
well lead to the introduction of stronger federal legislation.

  In either state or federal law, such legislation may force, and
rightfully so, Whois data access as well as the data itself for
registrants domain names be limited to a degree that meets
the registrants desires and under their direct control, not the
control of their registrar or by ICANN policy.
