If you believe the examples you give in some way compare to government control of the Internet, then you need to rethink your associative powers. The analogies you present are in no way related to what we are discussing. If you disagree, please elaborate on each of your points below and how they are similar to government control on the internet.

  Ask the Katrina victims if they agree with you.  Ask those with impending Alzheimer's.  Ask Parents who's children are missing.   Polio?  Clean water?  Traffic lights?   More government involvement is GOOD in all these cases.  

  Without government involvement millions would be on the streets.

  You need to re-think your bias.  It is severe and way over the top.
