Yeah, the politicians get that one wrong too. The only leadership worth having is the role of the servant. If you haven't got that attitude, you're no leader. Of course, team camaraderie, humour, magnanimity, the ability to get up the hundredth time after you fall, compassion, confidence in your best, givingness, the ability to listen and change, decision, reflection, stillness and quiet, the ability to communicate, respect for the weakest, the ability to delegate, self-deprecation and awareness of the things that make you ridiculous, and vision... all these things help...
But first, be the servant.
ICANN itself is there, or supposed to be, to serve the rest of the human race...

So, stupid me. I thought I would play a little street american football with some Sudanese and Vietnamese and Mexican transfer/refugee/immigrants kids (only about 16 to 24). Well I was Joe Namath and Merlon Olson, but I took a spill and ripped my Dockers and cut my knee bad.
The pants were easy to sew, stitching my leg with a pair of pliers and a needle hurt like hell. My wife was pissed and made me throw out the pants, thank God she did not make me throw out my leg.
Point being that we fall down but we get up again. And tommorrow I will wear shorts and kick some butt. You know those Sudanese are 10 feet tall, but if I buy them some icecream and talk real nice they will be on my team.
Can three engineers agree on a leader? Can they accept a quarterback? No I do not think so, they would rather die in self righteousnous than live life in discipline.
