It's interesting and so predictable, the way the individual members of the At Large (recognised by ICANN as thousands strong at the time of the last elections to the Board) have been LOCKED OUT of the election for their own representatives.
Who actually gets to vote for the representatives of individual internet users?
It's also worth mentioning that at the time of the last significant poll about who was trusted most to represent the At large, the people who received lowest votes from the hundreds who took part were in fact exactly those most involved with ALAC.
Let's remember that ICANN kicked out the Board Members elected by INDIVIDUALS to represent individual users. WHY?
All this lends credence to the view that ALAC was set up to create the semblance of a user representative organisation, while in fact being intended to keep actual individual users and actual individual voters as far away as possible from the actual electoral process.
In short, this election is a SHAM - because the very people ALAC claims to represent, have been LOCKED OUT of the election process.
This is all about the need to control:
USG's need to control the DNS via ICANN
ICANN's need to control its Board by limiting access to its voting procedures.
No credibility... No credibility... No credibility
* * * * *
sincerely yours,
Richard Henderson

The ICANN Nominating Committee invites Recommendations and Statements of Interest from the community as it seeks qualified candidates for the following positions: ...... two members of the At Large Advisory Committee (ALAC).
