Jay and all former DNSO GA members or other stakeholders/users,

  Indeed much of the problem with this situation is about Trust.
I recall back in '99 Esther Dyson, than COB of ICANN saying
"Trust us". Many if not most participating stakeholders/users did,
and as just one of many examples, it entered into a "Deal" with
Than Network Solutions, now Verisign, and gave away until
at least 2007, .COM .  So, much of the absence of Trust
in on ICANN, not Verisign.  After all Verisign is only doing
what it feels is in it's best interests and the interests of the
majority of it's customers even IF that belief may be in error...

  ICANN could, and in our view should have embraced
the Shared Roots or Multi-Root direction as desired by
many of not most of the stakeholders/users at the time,
and still, when this "Deal" with Verisign was made...
